WrensReads Review:
So this story starts as all young adults do (okay, at least most of them). A young girl who all of a sudden realizes she is something she is not and she can do things that no one else can and she has to save the world.
That’s the idea.
But you won’t be bored.
With this being Cassandra Clare’s first debut as an author, her writing as a little poor. It is definitely towards a younger young adult audience. The story itself though is golden.
You get the whole forbidden love with a side of a love triangle.
We have our vampires, our werewolves, our warlocks, and even our fae. But don’t be discouraged by the mainstream of it all. The story itself will keep you on your toes and will keep you interested.
I will tell you though, that her other two series are BETTER. But the sad part is that you need to read this one to get and understand characters and the plot and why things happened the way they did. And don’t just try to watch the movie or the show (because yes, there are both), because they take liberties that shouldn’t have been taken.
Read this series. Read the next. Maybe read the novellas if you are feeling up for it. But READ the last series. The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices are GOLDEN.
