The highly anticipated sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller that critics are calling “out-of-this-world awesome.”
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.
WrensReads Review:
Everyone says that Gemina is better than Illuminae…
…and the characters are a lot better in my opinion.
But tell me this. What is scarier?
01. A virus that turns everyone you ever know into absolutely crazy cannibals / zombies that is air-born?
02. Alien parasite?
To me, cannibals will always be scarier.
The characters and the twist involving the relationships with the characters and that other twist with the plot and then the over-lining twist in the plot (there were a lot of twist if you didn’t catch my drift) were absolutely chilling.
I still can’t get over the format of these books. The files, text messages, vocal messages, the surveillance documentation, the drawings, the added comics and doodles in the diary, and the absolute just amazing writing of it all.
The story involves cows in space, drug rings, basically royalty with a rebellious princess, and lots and lots and LOTS of murder and fighting. Characters you don’t want to die do die.
Speaking of characters, I was absolutely attached to the main three characters in this book. I missed my main two from the first book, but they do make an appearance, no matter how small it is, and I have a feeling all five of the characters are going to come back with a bang in the third book.
Again, I want to voice how reading the physical copy of this book while listening to the audio-book is the best way to dive into this series. Both have aspects you want to enjoy.
I absolutely cannot wait.
