WrensReads Review:
The art in this book is one of the best I have ever seen. It isn’t rushed and is completely thought out. And it is absolutely stunning; and I am not just talking about Marko because let’s be honest he is very easy to look at.
Don’t mind me I’m just going to update my taste in men to be one’s with horns
Anyway, the beloved couple gets a backstory in this one, which I really appreciated.
I mean, how do two completely different people from two different ends of a way fall in love? Well, they didn’t. But they did. It is a very well known story about a prisoner and his guard. But I feel as if they didn’t really fall in love until after they made their decision to have Hazel (our narrator).
They are the definition of a 1970’s hippy: don’t make war, make love.
aaaand then we get the parents.. who are not so welcoming to change. That was a good angle to take in the book. I feel as if two parents who are so pro-war and anti-wing, they would have been a little bit more angry with him. But then again, there was a baby involved so they probably were trying to get over the fact that they were old enough to be grandparents and were, in fact, grandparents to a hybrid.
Anyway, we get really graphic with some monster and his parts being drawn really grossly. This book is in no way not for adults only. Like there is so many different types of graphic content in this graphic novel series that sometimes I have to take a double take at what exactly someone deemed okay to put in a book.
I still am giving this five stars because the story is running so smoothly and there are so many different lines that are about to collide together and make such a mess that I am just too excited.
