WrensReads Review:
Another one recommended by Caleb…
I died.
This graphic novel was GREAT! It has a lot of action, beautiful art and some really interesting ideas. It has a Romeo and Juliet feel since both main characters Alana and Marko are from opposing sides of a very long war.
Except they have a baby and name her Hazel.
Except one has wings and the other has horns.
Except they get a babysitter named Izabel.
No big deal right? Not to mention the bounty out on them. How some prince that has a TV for a head is trying to find them, a guy with a giant sphinx who can tell if you are lying are not is trying to find them, a girl with a spider body is trying to find them…
…just everyone is trying to find them, okay? They just want to live their lives with their forbidden love-child and their pink-ghost babysitter. It isn’t that much to ask for.
Very much an adult comic. There are some pictures that I was even like “woah, too much information thanks.” But the story itself is very interesting. They are world-building for sure and still keeping my attention. I don’t feel as if I have been dropped into the middle of something I don’t understand.
I loved it, I am so ready to read the next volume!
