WrensReads Review:
The Bennett Sisters, aka: the best zombie slayers in Hertfordshire
This is glorious in only the comedic way because zombies. I appreciate the original Pride and Prejudice so much, and this book just makes me appreciate it more.
Who thought of this? It’s hilarious. I laughed out loud around every time a zombie was mention or the Bennett Sisters had to get into the pentagon of death.
Start Over.
This story has the exact same plot as the original. There is still a Mr. Darcy, Mr. Collins, Mr. Bingley (and his HORRIBLE sister) and all the other well-loved characters.
The only change is that zombies have been roaming around for fifty-five years and people are getting trained in the art of different swords, muskets, and other deadly weapons. Oh, and Lady Catherine has her own personal army of ninjas. Because that fits in with the zombie thing really well.
I know there is a lot of controversy over the idea of taking a beloved classic and making it into something different. I think it is a neat idea. It doesn’t make the classic look horrible, it doesn’t degrade it in anyway.
It’s just a cute/BA way of making a classic into something else. I mean we redo songs, movies, and plays, right? Why can’t we redo books and still love the classic all the same?
I think this is an awesome book. And I am even MORE excited about the movie because it looks SO ARTSY and AWESOME and ZOMBIES and PRIDE and PREJUDICE and so much YES.
