I cannot express to you how amazing this series is. I love Victoria Schwab’s Brain Children. I would marry her imagination if that was something plausible. They are always dark, mysterious and thrilling and that’s just the thing I love.
This series doesn’t have romance in it. There’s like a weird moment in this book that there kind of is, but then it is never spoken of and I was okay with that. With that being said, if you are a romance-junkie (yawn, not me), then this series may not appeal to you.
We have our two lovelies, Kate and August.
Both are hunting monsters and saving the innocent in different cities. Both have moved on with their lives since the last book, but both are still haunted by things that happened.
So when Kate is attacked by not a Corsai, not a Malchai, not a Sunai, but a brand new monster, she tries to take it down but actually leads it back to her home town that has been run by the devil himself, Sloan, and the devil she made, Alice (who is a very good edition to the dark side).
She goes to the only people still alive in the city and helping the innocent and tracking and killing the monsters: August.
I absolutely love the character development in this duology. The characters have flaws and are relatable and the plot thickens with each page. Now, Our Dark Duet didn’t hit home as much as Our Savage Song, but I feel it was a great edition to this world.
I am just really, really sad that this world has come to an end. I NEED MORE!
I’m just going to go around singing this creepy little tune for the rest of my life..
“Monsters Monsters big and small,
they’re gonna come and eat you all.
Corsai Corsai, tooth and claw
shadow and bone will eat you raw.
Malchai Malchai, sharp and sly,
smile and bite and drink you dry.
Sunai Sunai, eyes like coal,
sing you a song and steal your soul.”
WHAT IS THE TUNE FOR THE NEW MONSTER?
Ugh, I LOVED THIS SERIES SO MUCH I WANT TO READ IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAIN DANG IT!
