WrensReads Review:
UGH. I can’t even.
Roth has something against letting people live and letting someone have a happily ever after.
Finally, we see outside the fence. What do we find? Peeping Toms. They have been watching them. Like how intrusive? It’s like a TV show to them.
To fix all the jerks in the world, the government decides to construct giant city-size experiments all across the country. Just how sweet is that? People actually volunteered to have their genes screwed with, their memories wiped, and then to be thrown into a foreign city with strange rules.
I just don’t understand the logic.
They had all this technology and came up with this awesome plan to have everything just fix itself when really they could have done it themselves if they truly wanted to. Is this true laziness in the works?
Tris gets a little of her spunk back in this book that she lost in Insurgent, but Four just crumbled. Four just doesn’t think anymore. He doesn’t do anything because he’s scared. I’m pretty sure his name should just turn into Forty. Tris seems to be the worst thing to have happened to Four.
Then this whole race to get the memory serum before one of the groups uses it and WOW I just don’t understand where this story was going. I was kind of on The Department’s side because at least they were trying to save people millions of people. I mean I wouldn’t want my memory cleaned either but saving lives or starting new… idk, I wasn’t put in the situation so I guess I couldn’t really say.
Then a lot more people die that I just don’t know enough about to care about.
Then there is some weird love thing with Tris’s mom.
Then the big ending that someone dies but not the right person.
I just thought this story was going to take a totally different path. I’m really happy some people liked this book and Insurgent. I’m going to be happy thinking that the ended was unresolved and ended with Divergent because that book was wonderful and deserves better sequels.
