Introducing the first eight volumes of the fan-favorite, New York Times Best Seller series collected into one massive paperback collection.

In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living. With The Walking Dead #1-48, this compendium features more than one thousand pages chronicling the start of Robert Kirkman's Eisner Award-winning story of zombie horror, from Rick Grimes waking up alone in a hospital, his band of survivors seeking refuge on an isolated farm and the controversial introduction of Woodbury despot, The Governor.

WrensReads Review:

COMPENDIUM

com•pen•di•um (kəmˈpendēəm) noun.
noun: compendium; plural noun: compendia; plural noun: compendiums

a collection of concise but detailed information about a particular subject, especially in a book or other publication.

Compendium 01 of The Walking Dead includes:
Collections of Issues: #01 – #48
Collections of Volume: #01 – #08

Overall Thoughts:

It’s a pretty great read. It could have been an amazing read if the women weren’t portrayed as incapable idiots 75% of the time.

They thought they were safe in the prison. They were wrong. A force far more deadly than the walking dead is at their door and when the dust settles, their rank will be reduced by more than half. No one is safe!

WrensReads Review:

No, big guy, he isn’t dead. As we saw in the last volume, The Governor is very much alive and just needs a few bandages before he charges his people on false facts to attack the group he loathes for no apparent reason. Well, he has a reason to loathe Michonne, but it isn’t anything he didn’t have coming. You get what you give out PHILLIP!

This was a great volume. Michonne and Andrea showed the world that girls can give as much as they can take and more. These two girls are the warriors and I love them.

There isn’t really much else to say about this issue besides a lot of people die, women can do more than make you a sandwich, people get what is coming, and there is so much gore..

The Walking Dead Volume #07: The Calm Before

Lori's pregnancy has come to term, and the birth is near. After everything they've been through, nothing can prepare Rick and the other survivors for what they are about to experience. A major turning point in the series is reached.

WrensReads Review:

Oh my word, what a whiplash. The writing just plummeted AGAIN.

This is playing hard with my heart. Why are all the girls so stupid and/or just wanting to get it on? None of this makes plausible sense. The only thing I loved about the woman is that Lori gave no cares about nursing in front of her son because “it’s natural” and that was beautiful.

Like, CAROL WAY TO MAKE US ALL LOOK BAD. Or should I say, way’da go writers for making all the women look bad and/or unrealistic?

Prove me wrong here….

Anyway, the group got comfortable, a baby was born and basically nothing dangerous was happening. Until someone (stupidly) died and they let their guard down.

Always be aware of your neighbor guys, come on!
