My friend Dayrin and I went to a book-signing at Parnassus here in Nashville for Leigh Bardugo‘s The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic. I had told her a few weeks before to drop everything she was reading and to jump into The Grishaverse because I needed someone to go with and I wasn’t going to miss meeting one of my favorite authors. We had just recently went to a book signing of Sarah J. Maas and it had become an event that we do together. We got there early so we could get good seats and look around the beautiful bookstore that was hosting this event. When we sat down, there were two girls talking about Marissa Meyers and, on instinct, I turned around to put my two cents in on what a great series The Lunar Chronicles and Heartless are. We ended up wanting to read a creepy-read together, YOU by Carolina Kepnes, since this was in October and Halloween is a favorite of some of ours. We stayed in contact and talked about our reading together.
Little did we know that yet another one of my favorite authors, Libba Bray was coming to Parnassus. Growing up on her Gemma Doyle series, Bray had made a huge impact on my life and I wasn’t going to miss this. We all planned on meeting back up for this event. Libba was the most hilarious person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and the girls felt the same as I did. She described herself as a Cheerful Wednesday, being someone who dresses and acts cheerful but is actually dark and loves the creepy things.
By the end of the night, we planned on going to the Southern Festival of Books where yet another favorite one of our authors, Victoria Schwab was going to be signing books. It was this trip that we decided to name our little book club, The Cheerful Wednesdays.
The Cheerful Wednesdays are welcome to all ages and read a wide range of books. We read a book a month and discuss sections weekly to get a feel on how it is feeling with the rest of the club. We have a board on our Goodreads page that welcomes recommendations, we randomly grab a handful, and then we have a poll for the rest of the group. Any one is welcome to join this group, no matter your location, age, or any labels that one possesses.

They say I am a strange breed of a social-introvert. I have been a vegetarian since I was in second grade and some days I am vegan. I have a strong passion for helping the earth by recycling and putting the best energy out that I can. My sister read to me before I knew how, and I followed suit by always having a book open. I have two-sibling cats named Mowgli and Marcy, and they are collectively called The Greybies. I will read anything that is written well and not driven by the romance in the book, but I am drawn to Fantasy/Sci-Fi Young Adult books more than anything else. I am currently writing my own fantasy series when I am not nose-deep in my TBR.

I have been a reader since a very young age. I’ve always loved books and all things bookish. I credit the beginning of my obsession to the Scholastic Book Orders and Book Fairs my school took part in and to my parents for always reading to me. I’m an animal lover who is devoted to a Maltese named Harper. If I’m not working or reading, I’m plotting my next trip or dreaming of where I want to go next!

I always loved books when I was younger, and thanks to The Hunger Games back in 2011, my love for reading was rekindled and now my TBR keeps growing by the day. In my free time, I love being artistic whether that’s in my fashion, makeup, photography or design. I had the honor in making The Cheerful Wednesday logo and I had a ton of fun doing it. More than likely, you’ll find me cuddled up with a book drinking way to much coffee.

I am proudly from Louisiana and truly enjoy cooking and devouring as much Cajun food as I can. I got into books a little late in life, but thoroughly enjoy curling up with a good book now. I am an avid Murderino and enjoy listening, reading and watching as much true crime as I can. Last but not least, I am a mother to two wonderful little furbabies, Raz and Spencer, and I am luckily married to the man I love.

Superpower: Control Time
I am an introvert to the extreme. On a typical day, you’ll probably find me with a book, sketchpad, or notebook in hand. I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and found a love in the written word from the start. One of my favorite pastimes is writing, but I have a multitude of others. I’m currently polishing up my first novel, plotting out details for the second book and further works, and tacking my TBR list.
